FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is the best time to buy an RV?

There’s no single best season, but there are smarter times to buy. Late fall and winter tend to bring better pricing as demand drops and dealers work through inventory before the new model year arrives. Spring and early summer offer a strong selection but peak-season competition, and prices reflect that. Timing matters less than preparation. Knowing your budget, your tow vehicle’s capacity if you’re looking at trailers, and the floor plan that fits your travel style will serve you better than waiting for a sale. When those pieces are in place, you’re ready.

At Midtown RV, our showroom for RV sales in Penticton is open year-round. If you’ve already found the RV of your dreams, we can check availability and walk you through pricing. If you’re still narrowing things down, our team can help you find the right balance between features and budget for your next adventure. Browse our RVs for sale online or come in and see what’s on the lot.

How do I know which luxury RV is right for me?

Selecting the right luxury RV involves evaluating the features most important to you, such as kitchen amenities, sleeping space, bathroom space, and technological conveniences. Then consider both the purchase price and future maintenance costs. If you’re considering towable RVs, assess your vehicle’s towing capacity and the trailer’s weight. At Midtown RV, we help guide you through these key considerations to find the ideal RV for you and your family.

What is the difference between a Class A, Class B, and Class C motorhome?

The three motorhome classes differ primarily in size, chassis style, and the amount of living space you get.

Class A motorhomes are the largest, built on a dedicated commercial bus or heavy-duty truck chassis. They run from roughly 26 to 45 feet and offer the most interior room, typically with full slides, a separate bedroom, a full bath, and a residential-style kitchen. Diesel-powered Class A coaches, like the Newmar Dutch Star, mount the engine in the rear for a quieter cab and stronger performance on grades. They’re the right choice for full-time RVers or anyone who wants upscale comfort on extended trips.

Class B motorhomes are the smallest and most maneuverable. Class B motorhomes are built on a cargo van chassis, such as the Ford Transit chassis. They look like a standard full-size van from the outside. Inside, you’ll find a compact kitchen, a sleeping area, and a small bath. Select models offer all-wheel drive, making them practical for year-round use on BC roads. They’re easy to drive daily, park in a standard spot, and store at home without a large property.

Class C motorhomes sit between the two. They’re built on a cutaway truck chassis and are recognizable by the cab-over bunk that extends above the driver’s cab. They offer more interior space than a Class B while being easier to drive than a full Class A. Class C models are popular with families because they sleep more people and carry more gear without requiring the same level of driving experience a large Class A demands.

If you’re unsure which class fits your adventures, our team at Midtown RV can walk you through the options.

What should I know before buying a travel trailer?

Before buying a travel trailer, confirm your tow vehicle’s rated towing capacity and compare it against the trailer’s gross vehicle weight rating. Most half-ton trucks and larger SUVs can tow trailers in the 5,000 to 8,000 lb range, but the right number depends on your specific vehicle. Floor plan is another key consideration: a fixed rear bed, bunk beds, a rear living room, or a split bath all affect how the trailer lives day to day. Midtown RV carries travel trailers across a range of lengths and weights, and our team can help match a trailer to your tow vehicle and the kind of camping you plan to do.

What is the difference between a diesel motorhome and a gas motorhome?

Diesel motorhomes generally have a higher purchase price but offer better fuel efficiency at highway speeds, more torque for mountain driving, and a longer engine lifespan. Gas motorhomes cost less to buy and service, and fuel is easier to find in rural areas across BC and Canada. Diesel pushers, like the Newmar Dutch Star, mount the engine in the rear, which significantly reduces cab noise on long hauls. For buyers planning extended travel, a diesel motorhome often makes more financial sense over time. For seasonal weekend trips, a gas unit can be the more practical choice.

Do you offer any service or maintenance programs?

Yes, at Midtown RV, we offer exceptional after-sales repair and maintenance services. Our in-house service department comprises certified, knowledgeable RV technicians ready to help with all your RV service and repair needs, such as slide repairs, roof replacements, hail damage, electrical systems, appliance repairs, RV body work, and more. For scheduled maintenance, services include winterizing and dewinterizing, multi-point inspections, axle and brake work, chassis lubrication, wheel bearing repacks, gas testing, roof inspections, and Onan generator maintenance.  A large on-site parts inventory means most jobs don’t have to wait for back-ordered components, reducing turnaround time and getting you back on the road sooner.

What RV brands does Midtown RV carry?

Midtown RV carries some of the most recognized names in the RV industry, including Newmar and Coachmen. Newmar is a standout for buyers interested in high-end finishes and diesel motorhome performance, with models like the Dutch Star and Mountain Aire featured regularly in our inventory. Coachmen offers strong options across Class B and Class C motorhomes at a competitive price. Our inventory changes regularly, so browse the listings above or contact us directly for current brand and model availability.

Can I buy an RV from Midtown RV if I’m not from Penticton, BC?

Yes. Midtown RV serves buyers from across BC and Canada. Our Fly & Buy program covers your travel costs when you purchase an eligible RV, making it practical to shop our Penticton inventory regardless of where you’re based. Customers regularly travel to our dealership from Kelowna, the Lower Mainland, Alberta, and beyond to browse RV sales in BC.

Does Midtown RV offer RV financing?

Yes. Midtown RV offers financing options to help make your purchase work within your budget. We work with lenders familiar with RV loans across BC and Canada, covering both new and used units at a range of price points. Rates and terms vary depending on the unit, your credit profile, and the loan length. Visit our Financing and Warranty page for details, or speak with one of our sales specialists during your showroom visit or by phone.

What is an RV Care dealer, and why does it matter?

RV Care is a national network of 90+ independent RV dealers across Canada, with an alliance partner network in the US called Route 66 RV. The practical benefit for buyers is service coverage while travelling. If your RV needs urgent repairs on the road, any RV Care dealer in the network will recognize you as a network customer and prioritize your repairs to get you moving again.

Midtown RV is a proud member of the RV Care Dealer Network. When you purchase an RV from our Penticton dealership, many of the RV Care benefits are included at no additional cost. These include access to the network’s Customer Care Promises, parts and accessories availability across member locations, and priority service coverage at over 200 dealerships across North America.

Is it better to buy a new or used RV?

Choosing between a new and used RV depends on your budget, travel plans, and priorities. A new RV offers the latest floorplans, technology, manufacturer warranties, and the peace of mind that comes with being its first owner. Used RVs can provide excellent value, allowing you to enjoy premium features at a lower price point.

At Midtown RV, we carry both new and pre-owned RVs, including luxury motorhomes, travel trailers, and camper vans. Every used RV is carefully inspected by our experienced technicians before being offered for sale, so you can shop with confidence. Our team will help you compare the benefits of each option and find the right fit for your lifestyle.

Do you accept RV trade-ins?

Yes! We make upgrading your RV simple by accepting trade-ins on many new and used RV purchases. Trading in your current RV can reduce the amount you need to finance and eliminate the hassle of selling privately.

If you’re not ready to purchase another RV, we also offer RV consignment services and may be interested in purchasing your RV outright. Our team will provide a fair market evaluation based on your RV’s condition, age, features, and current market demand.

Do you deliver RVs across Canada?

Yes. Midtown RV proudly serves customers throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and across Canada. Many of our buyers travel from outside the Okanagan to purchase their RV, and we work with customers every step of the way to make the process easy.

Eligible RV purchases may qualify for our Fly & Buy Program, helping offset travel costs when you visit our Penticton dealership. If you’re purchasing from outside the area, speak with our sales team to discuss available delivery or pickup options.

Can I finance a used RV?

Absolutely. Financing is available for both new and used RVs, subject to lender approval. Loan terms, interest rates, and down payment requirements vary depending on factors such as the age of the RV, purchase price, your credit history, and income.

Our finance specialists work with trusted Canadian lenders to help you find competitive financing options that fit your budget. Whether you’re buying your first travel trailer or upgrading to a luxury motorhome, we’ll guide you through the financing process from application to approval.

How often should my RV be serviced?

Regular maintenance is essential for protecting your investment and ensuring your RV is ready for every adventure. Most RVs should receive an annual inspection that includes roof and seal inspections, brake and axle checks, appliance testing, propane system testing, and chassis maintenance where applicable.

Seasonal services such as winterizing and de-winterizing are also recommended for RV owners in British Columbia. At Midtown RV, our certified RV technicians provide comprehensive maintenance and repair services to help keep your RV safe, reliable, and road-ready throughout the year.

Why should I buy from an RV Care dealer?

Buying from an RV Care dealer provides valuable support long after you leave the dealership. RV Care is Canada’s largest network of independent RV dealers, with more than 90 locations across Canada and a partner network throughout the United States.

As an RV Care Dealer, Midtown RV customers receive access to priority service while travelling, nationwide support, and a network of participating dealerships that can assist with parts and service when you’re away from home. It’s added peace of mind for every journey.

Can I order a custom Newmar motorhome?

Yes. As Western Canada’s exclusive Newmar dealer, Midtown RV can help you factory order a custom Newmar motorhome built to your exact specifications. You’ll be able to select your preferred floorplan, cabinetry, furniture, décor, technology packages, and many available options.

Our experienced sales team will guide you through the entire ordering process and keep you informed from production through delivery, ensuring your new motorhome is built exactly the way you want it.

Do I need a special licence to drive a motorhome in British Columbia?

In most cases, no. Most Class A, Class B, and Class C motorhomes can be driven with a standard Class 5 driver’s licence in British Columbia, provided the vehicle falls within provincial licensing requirements. Larger commercial-style vehicles or certain weight classes may have different requirements.

If you’re unsure whether a particular motorhome requires a different licence, our team will explain the applicable regulations and help you choose a model that’s appropriate for your driving experience.

Can I bring my RV to Midtown RV for service even if I didn’t buy it there?

Yes. Our certified RV service department welcomes customers regardless of where they purchased their RV. Whether you own a travel trailer, fifth wheel, Class A, Class B, or Class C motorhome, our experienced technicians can perform maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, warranty work (where applicable), and installations.

We service many popular RV brands and maintain a large inventory of parts and accessories to help minimize repair times and get you back on the road sooner.
